Responsibilities

The Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (WOCN) is a registered Nurse, who demonstrates clinical expertise through advanced education, knowledge, and skills in wound and ostomy care. The WOCN serves as a clinical resource and consultant to the nursing staff and physicians for assessment and plans of care for patients with specific disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems. Theses include ostomies, fistulae, tubes, dermal wounds, and incontinence. Serves in the role of clinician, consultant, educator and researcher.

Qualifications

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program. MSN Preferred.

• Minimum Experience: 2-5 years of educational experience in an acute care or academic organization or demonstrated expertise in a clinically equivalent role.

• Required Certification/ Registration: Current New York State Registered Nurses.

• Active WOCN Certiication or in process .

• ACLS / BLS provider status required.

 

Part-Time Day M-F, Weekend or holiday as needed
